MISSION, VISION AND VALUES

Developing the best program for you

Our mission

We are a team of researchers and clinicians across Canada committed to supporting people with cancer and those who support them (caregivers) through the ongoing development and improvement of TEMPO: an innovative, easy-to-use online interactive program.

Our vision

To provide every individual with cancer and their support person with the information, tools and resources they need to maintain a high quality of life despite the challenges faced when coping with cancer.

Our values

TEMPO is here to support patients and caregivers and our team is guided by the following values:

01

Respect

We respect and honour each individual story. Each cancer experience is unique in every way, regardless of the challenges that patients and caregivers may share with others going through the same thing. We recognize what you have had to cope with and how it has affected you.

02

Compassion

We strive to create a supportive space where people with cancer and their caregivers can learn and grow. We care about helping you successfully cope with your cancer challenges and achieve your goals as you move forward.

03

Empowerment

We believe in giving individuals the resources and tools they need to help them take control of their cancer challenges and their lives. Self-management is an opportunity to actively improve your health and wellbeing, and to shape your life in a way that is meaningful for you. Self-management puts you in charge.

04

Support

We have dedicated content in TEMPO to teach you how to get the support you need from your healthcare team, people in your network, and/or others with similar experiences. It can be hard to ask for help; we want to make it as easy as possible.

05

Evidence-based

Behind the scenes, TEMPO’s dedicated researchers continuously contribute to the program’s evolution. Their commitment to ongoing research ensures that TEMPO remains at the forefront innovation, offering you the latest and most effective information and strategies to manage the challenges often experienced in cancer treatment and recovery.

History

How it all began

TEMPO was developed from a shared vision of wanting to help people with cancer, and those supporting them, take control of their health and their lives.

TEMPO is more than a self-management program. It’s a space where you can explore how your cancer experience has affected you and how you can move forward and achieve your goals.

“I liked that the sessions were set up in such a way that it was thought-provoking and engaging. I think sometimes when you go through these— like I’ve done 360 processes in business and things like that and you know, your brain starts to drift, but I felt quite engaged throughout the entire session. I thought it was very relevant.”
